Crocheted Heart Pattern

Crocheted Heart Pattern
by Angela Scherber

Materials :
Yarn:I used I love this yarn (you can use any kind you would like.)
Hook: H and J (I like to go a couple of sizes up. So I can make sure my stitches don't get to tight for the sl st. You may just use the h if you want.)

Abbreviations:
ch=chain
sc=single crochet
dc=double crochet
hdc= half double crochet
tr= triple/treble crochet
sl st=slip stitch

Pattern:
ch 4, 2 tr, 2 db, 2 hdc, sc, ch 2, sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 tr, ch 4, slip stitch into magic ring
Pull the magic ring yarn tighter but not to tight just yet. You need some room to get into the first stitch to do a sl st around in each stitch.

Cut yarn and now pull the magic ring yarn as tight as you would like. Weave in ends

Add any kind of embellishment you would like.

To obtain different sizes I use different size hooks.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

If you would like or can't crochet a heart(s).

Homemade Croutons

Homemade Croutons

My mother use to make these when I was younger.
I use to make them for a while and then stopped and
I don't know why I did. Last night my girls and I had
salad and we made them together.
They keep saying how good they were and my seven
year old wanted to bring some to summer school
for snack today.

Recipe:

Ingredients:
6 slices or bread of your choose - I use a butter top wheat this time
Butter or margarine of your choose
Garlic powder

Heat oven to 450 degrees.

1) Spread butter/margarine on both sides of bead.
2) Sprinkle garlic powder on both sides.
3) Slice bread up and spread on pan.

Cook for 12-15 mins depend on your oven. I like mine a little darker so I did the full 15 mins.

Inspired Cabbage patch Doll Hat

Inspired Cabbage patch Doll Hat

I have had a few request and a few thought I would love to make one.
So I got out my brown yarn yesterday, turned on a movie
and started to crochet.

I pulled up the picture and made one up as I went along.
I'm one that love to come up with my own patterns.
I just did a regular beanie hat and then did a loop stitch for
a few rounds. Then added some ponytails.

My girls are in love with it.

I love it too.

If you can't crochet and would love these crocheted boot cuffs.

Taco Bake

Taco Bake

My girls love this. We did leave out the
Salsa Con Queso. I had them try it and
they did not like it. It turned out really good
without it.

Taco Back

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
* water as called for on back of seasoning packet
3 large flour tortillas (8-inch size)
1/2 cup Salsa Con Queso
1 1/2-2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend

Directions:

Brown and crumble ground beef. Drain excess grease.
Add in taco seasoning and water (following directions on back of seasoning packet).

Once the taco meat is ready, turn off heat and add in 1/2 cup salsa con queso.Give it a good stir until thoroughly combined.

Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
Spry an 8-inch round baking pan with nostick cooking spray.
Layer the bottom of the pan with flour tortilla.

Now add about 1/3 of the ground beef taco filling on the first layer.

Then add 1/3 of the shredded cheese.

continue until you are done with all the layers: another tortillla, more taco mixture, more cheese.
Bake at 350F dregrees for about 15-20 mins.
Until  cheese is melted and edges are slightly golden brown.

Allow to cool for a couple of minutes.
Then slice and serve.

We topped ours with sour cream. I also added green onions.

Slow Cooker Chicken Alfredo

Prep time: 15 minutes

4 slices Swiss cheese
3 TBLS grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

I like to serve them on Egg Noodles and have french bread with it.

Remarkable Fudge

Remarkable Fudge

This is my and my family's favorite fudge. I got this recipe
from my Mom.

Remarkable Fudge

4  Cups sugar
2  5 1/3 ounce cans evaporated milk
1  Cup butter or margarine
1  12 - ounce package (2 cups) semisweet Chocolate pieces
1  7- ounce jar marshmallow creme
1  teaspoon vanilla

Butter the sides of heavy 3-quart saucepan. In it combine sugar, evaporated milk,
and butter or margarine. Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture comes to a
boiling. Cook to 236 degrees (soft-ball stage), about 12 mins, stirring freequently
(mixture should boil gently over entire surface). Remove from heat. Add remaining
ingredients; stir till combined adn chocolate is melted. Turn into a buttered 9x9x2-inch
or 13x9x9-inch pan. Score into squares while warm; cut when firm. If fudge is soft, chill.
Makes about 3 1/2 pounds.

This is how I open my evaporated milk cans.  My
girls always love to do this part.

I melt the butter first. Then once it is all melted. I add the
sugar and evaporated milk to it.

Once it comes to a boil I put the timer on if you don't have
a candy thermometer. They cam out to about the same.
I did have to this time do it a bit longer but since I had
the candy thermometer I went to what it says.
I have done it before with the timer and it turns out
just right.

The fun part of adding the chocolate and marshmallow
creme.

 Enjoy!!!!

Round Placemats & Coasters

Round Placemats & Coasters
My 8 year old asked if we could start using placemats
at dinner time. So we went onto the internet and found
a pattern she liked. We then went out and she got to pick
the color of yarn she wanted.
She picked a beautiful green and pink and pink yarn.
I worked on them for  a few weeks. Did them in between orders
and my free time.
Here is where I got the link:

Here are a few pictures of our placemats

Hint: I did do an extra round at the end. I did a slip stitch
all around it. I thought it made for a cleaner look.

For the Coasters I just did the first five rounds on the pattern.
I then did a one single crochet in one stitch and then two
single crochets in the next all the way round. Then in the
last row I did a slip stitch all the way around.

They were really easy to make and can't wait to tackle a new
placemat pattern soon.
